It is recommended that you separate the kit at the waist(it has a significantly weaker waist joint to make this easy), and it is also recommended that you separate the skirt armour and head(again, the ball-joints are designed to be removed, so this is easily accomplished without breaking anything), however you can transform the kit to and from DESTROY mode easily without any disassembly. Additionally, it requires no part swapping to transform. The actual process is easy enough, but the manual does a poor job of explaining it. There are several tutorials on YouTube, and I recommend you watch one.
