Rather it is assembled rotor with 3 commutators and two terminals which can be mounted with plastic gears and permanent magnets to act as BDC motor or generator. He is an expert at Legos--building the 14-16 year old sets. He found this fun and it is still on the front of the toy shelf. T&K manuals are like mini-science books. I like the way you can build up the components of a motor and see why the magnets make a difference, for instance. Components feel solid and fit together well. Instruction booklet is great and streets ahead of the usual standard, with clear explanations.
