Since most, if not the all, the smart phones headphone jacks are also microphone (that's why you can use your headphone/microphone for phone calls), this will work. Keep in mind that you need a way to hold this device while connected to the phone as you record. So if you have that resolved, then I think it will be cool set up. **Q: Can I connect a wireless microphone to this device?** A: it has 2 -3.5mm mini jack inputs for microphones, and 1 mini XLR input. I only have 2 complaints about this one is that the 9v battery doesn't fit well it gets loose thus won't turn on unless you put something like a penny in there to tighten it. 2 there is a high pitched noise sound that can get annoying but can easily be fixed in post. The mics quality is actually not bad either. It's right in the camera bracket to turn my phone into a full-fledged audio video professional machine however it lacked sufficient quality control and one of the little mics or the channel internal electronics malfunctioned after the first test use.
