I usually wear an XL top in non-stretchy fabrics, so I figured one size up would be ideal if it ran small.In truth, the XXL was huge on me! There was at least a foot too much fabric, even around my chest. I ended up paying more for the alterations than I did for the dress itself. This was my choice tho, as I wanted the dress for an anniversary weekend and didn't have time to return it and get a new smaller size.The alterations did make the dress fit much better but it's a lot shorter now. This leads me to believe that if I'd gotten the XL it would be about this length. The fitted dress falls several inches above my knee and rides up a lot when I sit down. I have short legs, too, so long legged girls may find it too short. I can wear it with flat sandals, but with wedges it looks like I forgot my pants!The embroidery is pretty, but I will be very careful when washing so it doesn't fall apart. The fabric is thin and reminds me of the fabric they make scrubs out of. Fine for the navy dress I got, but with the lighter colors I'd beware. I still wear a slip under it to be safe.In hindsight I don't know that I would order this again, but it's cute and colorful.
