Clothing will typically not set it off in a deposit chute because the large surface area spreads the pressure. Conversely, to increase sensitivity, place a small hard object with corner (such as a 2x4 lumber) under the mat. Note that the alarm only stays on for 30 seconds even if the mat is kept pressurized. The alarm is activated for 30 seconds upon state change only -- ie: when pressure is applied or removed.
