Any minor defects or stretching in the o-ring results in a slight tilting of the top. No big deal right? I just thought I was really bad at centering it, but it turns out, it was a o-ring issue. Don't wait until its too late to replace it like I did! At the peak of the pool season, a giant, high pressure stream shot out of the o-ring! Had to take the whole pool offline for a week, which has its own serious issues when water is not circulating. When I pulled out the old o-ring, it didn't look that bad, but some minor defect was all it took. When I replaced it, the filter it works perfectly and the top is centered. If you are starting to see these symptoms, its time to replace the o-ring.

**Q: When you install the O ring do you need to lubricate it? If so, what do you recommend?**
A: I used a silicone lubricant on the O ring to make it easier to lock the cover. With the silicone the cover slides down onto the filter body. If you don't use it the ring may slide out of its groove and you will have cover that's not sealed, so,yes, use the silicone

**Q: What is the material of this o-ring?**
A: The material for the o-ring is Black flexible rubber. Mine is holding up really well and fits perfectly.

**Q: Whey is it so hard to show the size**
A: Hmmm?  The Size of What?

**Q: Does this fit a hayward de 4800**
A: Not sure what a Hayward de4800 is but this particular O-ring fits my Hayward cx90  and is about 10” in diameter. Hope this helps

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ These last about 4 or 5 years

This is the second time I buy this. The first one I bought almost 5 years ago, and replaced it "just in case". They're cheap enough that you should probably replace them before they fail. I live in Arizona, so that gives you and idea of the abuse these o-rings can take: lots of heat, lots of pressure, and even below-freezing temps on occasion in the winter. This one did not arrive in OEM packaging, but in a plain shipping envelope with no wrapping or documentation of any kind. It looks like OEM and should hopefully last just as long, but it sells for a very reasonable price. Suggest you clean out the filter housing with plain water, a small toothbrush, and plenty of paper towels to ensure you get out all the dirt and contaminants, and old lube. While these o-rings last a few years, it's a good idea to clean them very well and re-lube them about once or twice a year to ensure optimal pump and filter operation. Suggest you use disposable glove(s) to lube it up with Hayward's Jack's Multilube (look it up on Amazon...it's a great product). It'll last a long time, just take care of it with good, and regular lubing.
