So I haven’t had to replace it yet and it has been a couple of months. So i would say it depends on how you are using it. **Q: Can this be put in the dishwasher?** A: We have several and they go through a steam cycle almost weekly in our dishwasher. We have several different items that we do at the same time. I have also boiled when a dishwasher isn't available **Q: Does it lather well like a loofah?** A: I think it lathers just as nicely and it doesn’t carry that musty smell. It’s easy to use and clean. Plus it drys fast and I love the handle for holding onto and it hangs nicely and doesn’t take up much room. I love this way more than I love those puffy loofahs. It’s 100% worth it imo and you get 2 for a great deal. I gave my second one to my autistic son and he is loving it. It’s also gentle yet exfoliating and it’s like a nice massage in the shower or bath. It does not suds up as much as a regular bath pouf, but that should not deter you on using the product. It can hold a good amount of soap to use for your entire body. It rinses clean and has a loop where you can hang it to dry overnight. I see the benefits of using this over the bath pouf, for hygienic purposes. It would be great for travel, as it is small enough to pack and won’t take up space in your travel bags.I would say it is a small learning curve to using it. I’m right handed, so I have no issues holding it. For my left hand, I find that I end up using hand pressure instead of my fingers to hold it in my hand, so it gets slippery from the soap/water. I’m also not flexible so I have trouble washing my back, but that’s me.In regard to the exfoliation, it is gentle. I feel it is one level up from a regular bath pouf, comparable to a soft terry wash cloth, but doesn’t provide the deep cleansing experience using exfoliating spa gloves.
