I'm a side-sleeper and they impacted me less than the wired apple earphones I got last week. They don't block out as much noise as a proper pair of earplugs would, but I find them comfortable enough that I will continue to use them for playing storm noises and podcasts to fall asleep. The cord is nice and long too, everything is very lightweight. After reading a few reviews I bought the 3.5headphone jack model and got a 3.5 to USBC converter for my phone and I am happy with the sound quality for what I'm using it for. No issues with connectivity or volume.
