There would be ragged edges that stick out and that affect the shape of my cake. In order to save the time and lower the chance of ruining my cake, I prefer using these rounds. My cake pans are non-stick that I do not need to use butter to grease the bottom that is covered by the parchment round, but I would still grease the side to make sure the cake could demold smoothly. The parchment round can be removed easily and keep my cake in perfect shape.
