So next time you get something from China that is a cheap POS, call the American corporation that told them to make it that way for larger profit margins. as for these speakers, they are extremely well made. i got mine damaged for a discount. the rear corner and heat sink were SMASHED but did not penetrate the enclosure. ive been blasting them for 2 weeks now with zero issues. i took a look inside for anything broken and the not only were the wires sleeved, organized and tucked so nicely, i think the PCB they used is the nicest ive ever seen in a speaker. **Q: Can they be connected directly to a modern TV?** A: Yes they can. They can also be connected to a less than modern TV. Great speakers! **Q: I just got my speakers. The main one felt like there was something inside "moving" around. A heavy CLUNK when rotating the speaker. Normal?** A: I picked up my main speaker and there was no movement of any type internally. Sounds like something may have been damaged during shipping. **Q: Use as computer or bookself speakers? Can these be hooked up directly to a computer or do they need a power source. Also, can they be hooked up to a receiver for a 5.1 system as bookshelf speakers for surround sound?** A: Great computer speakers. However I have them hooked up to an Audioengine D1. It is a Digital to Analog converter. From the converter to the speakers there are two are connector that go from the dac to the speakers. They have their own power source. It is 50 Watts. They need a break-in period. They are very loud for 50 watts. As long as the receiver has rca connectors you could do it but I would not advise it as they have their own power supply. You could do research on digital to analog converters online to find one to your liking.
