No pages bent, no marks on the cover. This book started off strong and ended strong. The character we've come to love develop further and face more challenges. The tone of the book takes a darker turn and the mood is very bleak and hopeless for most of it, which I understand some readers won't like, but I loved. It almost seems to border on grim dark. The writing is beautiful as always, the words flow together so well. Helene is easily my favourite character, which is unfortunate since Sabaa seems to love torturing her the most. There's a lot of politics and scheming going around. It was a good time overall. The only flaw was that I found one of the characters' POV a little boring and meandering. Hopefully that will get better in the next book. What the hell?! Release all the UK covers and not just this one. Two, this book was such a rollercoaster. The POV names changed to symbolise what each character was going through. Nightbringer got a freaking sad backstory and chapters. I enjoyed Shrike's chapters more in this book than the last one. Also, more new characters. Darin's character was also very nice.
