It is soluble in water and alcohol and insoluble in oils. Body washes, hair shampoos, hair loss treatments, lotions, creams, bath oils, solubilizates. I was a little nervous at first because I wasn't sure exactly how to use it, or how much to use because it doesn't come with any instructions. I ended up doing some research and found that most people use 1%, so in a recipe that weighs a pound or 16oz. I would use 5ml of the polysorbate (I think). However, I personally would just "eyeball" it, and if things wouldn't mix together I would add a little more until things would mix and stay together, and a little goes a long way. I am so glad to have found this stuff and will be sure to always have it on hand. I know that since using this, my lotions have stayed together without separating and so have my shampoos which is a big plus for me.
