I put the shampoo on my pup and then use the brush to clean her - otherwise, it is pretty much a waste. A good item but definitely not executed properly. The strap where you put your hand is very small, so if you have big hands, this isn't for you. The quality of the item itself is cheap too - the top cap slides off. Nothing to brag about. When the top is secured, the brush works very well and my dog loves it. In between baths I use a waterless shampoo so I don’t have to put him in the tub or use the garden hose and I just spray this all over him then take it and scrub him head to toe and he loves it. It does get hair all over it but it washes off easily. Don’t worry about cleaning it, it cleans itself!
