Does the packaging have an exp date?** A: There are two thing here. First, the batteries are CR1632 button cells. They are commonly used in computer bios, and are very very common. These cells have an amazing shelf life and as the Robocopp is an on off device, when the device is in the off state there is absolutely negligible loss on the batteries. They should store for 5-6 years before ~5℅ of the stored voltage is lost. After that there some formulas out there to figure out voltage drop.Anyway, the second most important thing.If used in an emergency, the company will 100℅replace and refurbish your device to make sure it will continue being used.I have a few of these devices, just toying around with them as annoying sound grenades probably 10-15, 3-5 minute bursts and they are still loud as ever. **Q: Is the battery replacable and what type is it?** A: No, the battery is NOT replaceable in a PRACTICAL way. Yes, you can replace the battery if you are willing to resolder the metal retainer holding it in place. I had to rip that apart to get to the battery. There are clips that go through the microcircuit board and bend inwards, so when you take that off, it doesn't retain the battery effectively. You can 'smash' it back in place like I did, but it doesn't make good contact after that, and it is marginally effective. This is a non-starter since they make pretty good trip wire alarms elsewhere for $10 and you can replace the battery on theirs. For $30 plus dollars, it is ridiculous this is not replaceable. Even worse, the description says it is replaceable when in fact is it NOT replaceable unless you are a circuit board technician and have the tools available. UNSAT !!! **Q: Can this be disarmed this *before* it goes off? I want to use it to secure a bag but I don't want the alarm to go off at all when I need to move it.** A: I have the tripwire attached to the device with caribiner clips at each end. If I want to just disable it, I just unclip one end. If I want to take the device somewhere else I just unclip both ends from the tripwire. **Q: So this thing is not rechargeable and the battery cannot be replaced?** A: You can open it up and replace the battery but they cant guarentee that it will be waterproof.
