The EcoPlus Commercial Grade Chiller 1.5 HP is a reliable, efficient and simple solution to cool up to 500 gallons in aquariums, hydroponic systems, cold plunges, and many other reservoirs. Designed to withstand heavy usage in commercial applications; this chiller features a titanium heat exchanger for optimum performance and corrosion resistance, and heavy-duty galvanized steel housing with a durable powder-coated finish. The digital LCD display provides easy operation, and a remote controller with a 30 ft cord allows monitoring and adjustments at a distance. This Chiller also features auto restart and temperature memory capabilities to reduce disruptions in the event of a power failure. Review: Cool, Quiet, Fast. A huge step up from Active Aqua. - I bought a Plunge Pro which has a rebranded Active Aqua AACH100HP. The Active Aqua is LOUD, specifically the compressor. It's about 68dBa, louder than low flying planes, loud enough to be heard by my next-door neighbors, and loud enough I could hear it all throughout the house. The EcoPlus 1 1/2hp was a direct replacement.. no adapters or pipe fittings needed. I just added the included rubber grommets to the Plunge connectors, screwed everything in and started it up. The noise from the EcoPlus is about 55-58dBa, which is silent compared to the active aqua. Most of that noise is coming from the fan, not the compressor. This means there's very little that is high pitched and I can barely hear it anywhere. Also, this thing performs incredibly well. The Plunge Pro cools down in a fraction of the time. The active aqua took about 1 hr when kicking on in the AM. The EcoPlus took less time than writing this review.
Review: It's a reliable workhorse. - I bought this for a DIY 300 gal cold plunge. It is an absolute workhorse. It is extremely quiet and efficient. The water pump I use with it is louder than the chiller. In 100F degree weather, I can fill the tank with a water hose and it will chill the water to 38F in less than four hours. I've also used it in -10F and even though all the pipes froze, it has freeze protection and keep the unit's internal temperature above 33F. I will say that when it was delivered the box was pretty beat up but nothing was scratched or broken. I've had zero problems and absolutely love it.

**Q: does this run on 220V or 120V? and and will it work outdoor in the summer Vegas Heat?**
A: It runs on 120v. If you're using your chiller for a fish tank 300 gal is reasonable but I bet it would do more.

Now if you're using it for hydroponics the manufacturer would like you to believe that you need one for every 300 gal you need to chill that's total crap. I'm using one of these to chill 6,000 gal of water from ~75 to ~55 deg and all I had to do was bury my reservoir outside my building and place the chiller outside aswell under a small wooden lean-to I built out of scrap OSB. Granted, burying the tank does a lot to keep it cool but without the chiller the temps would climb to ~75, with it they are around 56 most days. I dont see how this is only rated for 300 gal.

**Q: can we use this to cool a walk in?**
A: it cools water so not sure how that would work.

**Q: Can I use this for domestic hot water?**
A: I have ordered 3 and all have been sent back damaged. This unit is for cooling water not heating.

**Q: I have 15k gallon inground pool in arizona need temperature of water to drop 10 + degrees.  what you say? and im thinking to run this is not inexpensi**
A: I run this off my truck for a 200 gallon insulated seafood tank.  Easily pulls 10+ degrees with out a sweat in hot weather.

But 15k gallon open pool in hot climate...
I have my doubts but I don't know if it can or can't.

After less than a year a connection inside the control board burnt up. The company re-directs the 800 number calls to Hawthorne GC and that company does not return calls or emails. I am willing to buy the new part if necessary. Not even looking for a warranty-type replacement (though I deserve it).
