Review: Amazing product really and transformed our whole heating system. - I decided to take the plunge after doing my research. I went or Tado based on the good reviews, apparent ease of installation and value. I now just heat up the rooms/zones where I want or need the heat. In the end I ended up with the starter kit and 9 Smart Radiator Valves and so the cost does add up when you need to purchase that many SRVs. Installation of the actual wireless receiver/controller wasn't that difficult but in my view is probably outside the knowledge of must DIYers unless you happen to have specific electrical knowledge or background. Fitting the SRVs is easy and I didn't need to use any of the adapters which is a plus because some of them look a little odd and I'm not sure how well they would fit. Besides that setting up everything through the app is very good. Defining different zones works a treat and you can have different heating schedules for each zone. The app/controller is actually clever enough to not turn on the boiler each time a single SRV calls for heat as that would be very inefficient and also bad for the pump and boiler etc. it tries to optimise this as much as possible which seems to work well. I can also do manual overrides from the app, such as boosting the heat in all rooms or turning them all off. It also notifies me when I leave home asking me if I want to turn all the heating off the save energy. it's a nice idea but when I leave home it doesn't meant that everyone else has :). Perhaps Tado will improve this so that all home users can be tracked and also linked to specific heating zones. For example, when my daughter leaves for work, the apps could track this and just turn off the heating in her bedroom. Anyway, great product and would definitely recommend.

**Q: Are the features of the app free to use?**
A: The app is free. You can manage your heating with it. If you want monitoring and data, they have a pay-for extension.

**Q: Is there a hard wired option? I hate having to swap batteries out and was hoping we could do a straight swap with our current wired thermostat?**
A: The thermostat is battery controlled. The 'hardwired' element in the other answer is the switched live for the heating. Any existing neutral wire isn't used therefore the unit is not powered by any other means but the battery.
This is necessary as most current wall stats are only powered when the timer kicks the central heating in.

**Q: Will they work without tado thermostat?**
A: So long as you get a starter kit, yes.

**Q: Can the add on thermostat be used a mobile thermostat?Rather than buying a radiator valve that is obviously fixed in place could you use this to move**
A: Yes if you use the wireless thermostat - it does not need to be fixed and can be placed anywhere provided it is still within the range of the WIFI signal.  Note that this thermostat needs the Tado control unit installed as well to operate the system.

I decided to take the plunge after doing my research. I went or Tado based on the good reviews, apparent ease of installation and value. I now just heat up the rooms/zones where I want or need the heat. In the end I ended up with the starter kit and 9 Smart Radiator Valves and so the cost does add up when you need to purchase that many SRVs. I loved my Tado system. Controlling each room from my app is great. They’re easy to fit. I fitted my whole system myself and I don’t do electrics - that was 2 years ago and I’ve not burned the house down. Tado isn’t cheap, but the App is easy to use and I like the way it Geofences to remind you to turn your heating to away or at home. The one thing about Tado is that it does sometimes glitch and you get very warm.
