I've experienced the Android platform since the Nexus One and I can say that's it gotten so much better. I can say that my Galaxy Nexus came with "yakju". Yes, I have the Google build of the software. However, I wasn't satisfied. With Google selling the Galaxy Nexus on the Google Play Store and having a different Android build "takju", I went and did some research. The good news is that the software is available from Google. Do a search for "stock Android ROMs". The bad news is that it required a little "know how" in computer programming to get the Google sanctioned takju on my Galaxy Nexus, but Voila!. I have the exact same Google branded phone that Google is selling with all the trimmings (such as Google Wallet), but in White! Very VERY good phone. Amazingly fast. Evermore faster on T-Mobile's HSPA network, getting up to 8MB download speeds on a good day. Yes the s3 has better hardware, but for me the software advantages that the galaxy nexus has outweighs the hardware advantages that the s3 has because the galaxy nexus is no slouch when it comes to hardware either. There's only so much processing power that you need in a phone and i believe that the galaxy nexus is perfectly adequate. I knew that if I went with the s3 I would never see an update, while the galaxy nexus will be the first to update to jelly bean. And to me that's more important. The galaxy nexus was marketed as being samsung's phone that would be the first to receive android system updates. This is apparently no longer the case.
