I wouldn't recommend it. I sent it back. **Q: How do I get rid of a dank musty smell in the tank?** A: Viniger & water. Or ther is a product called "Odoban" we get it at Walmart or Lowes hardware. It a defendant it can come in a gallon & diluted or a spray o just clean my tank out once a week and run clear tap water while I pore a little of the odoban in and gi e it a good shake let it set a bit. I hope they do as it's starting to get very dry around this time of year in Maine and these humidifiers normally do a great job of keeping the environment comfortable .10-26-2020I purchased this second unit after more than two years of successful use of the first one, the second one started out fine but today less than 2 months after receiving it from Amazon it went haywire beeping, lights flashing and no matter which button i press it would not stop. I unplugged it and when i plugged it back in some 2 minutes later the display is now dead. That was an expensive 2 months use ? The first one lasted 2+ years and worked flawlessly this one just 2 months !!!!! Contacted the manufacturers to claim on the warranty, so far no reply ?I live in Maine which believe it or not has extremely low humidity this time of the year despite having around 7' of snow on the ground. In fact my home is so dry my skin starts to itch incessantly. Having purchased a Home Depot special about 2 years ago i realized the need for consistent control of the moisture content of my home. A few days ago the old unit died and rather than spend time and money trying to get it fixed i purchased the 1.6 Gal. Cool Mist Digital Humidifier. It arrived yesterday and after unpacking i filled it with water and turned it on. What a difference from the old model This unit is very powerful and has two independent nozzles that can be aimed at any 360 degree horizontal angle. The 1.6 gal tank is enough to last me 24 hours on full power, twice as long as my old unit. It has a very handy handle which helps support the 13 1/2lb weight of the water full tank when filling. Controls are great having four mist power outputs, Auto off and a very useful LED Humidity display. The unit is silent which makes it great for use in a bedroom . I always place my Humidifier near my Orchids and can now aim the mist to cover the entire collection. This keeps them in perfect condition while keeping my living room at around 40% .Update 05-17-2019Well after more than two years constant use and more than 400 gallons of distilled water i think this humidifier is about to die, it has started to make a strange whirring sound every time i refill the water reservoir . I am very happy with the unit and consider 27 months of non stop use quite good for a machine like this so will defiantly replace it with a similar unit from this manufacture.Update sept16th 2020Well at last the old model died and i reordered the exact same model, plugged it in and away we go. Compared to the old worn out model this one is silent. Looks the same performs the same but silent.
