It is a thin silicone sheet that is printed as illustrated here, providing a very useful reference for measurements and diameters.The contrast of the printed letters is not as sharp as shown in the illustrations here on Amazon. The silicone is translucent and does not provide a perfectly contrasting background in order for the letters to be perfectly read. I give it 4-stars rather than 5-stars for that reason.Overall though it's very nice and we expect it to be quite useful. When not in use it rolls up and takes very little space in one of our kitchen drawers.The seller of this pastry mat, 'Maxloca', is fairly new on Amazon, and at the time of writing this review they are only offering two products on Amazon.
