Review: Strong box, easy install on 2013 F150... - This thing is ingenious! I installed this on my 2013 F150 Lariat SuperCrew with 5.5' box. I do not have a bed liner yet, but this box will work with Bedrugs and sprayed in liners. The instructions say it works with drop in liners, but you have to cut away part of your drop-in liner to accommodate the hinge bracket. When I do decide to install a spray liner, I can simply remove the six bolts and quickly reinstall it. If I decide on a bedrug, I don't have to remove the bracket since the bedrug will simply install over it; I will only need to cut slots for the latching mechanism and hinges. Contrary to popular belief, this will install without removing the factory tie-downs on the 2013 F150 beds (I am sure it will also work on other close years, but I can only speak for the 2013). Here is how: The instructions say to mount the hinge plate with the bottom of it down against the bed. I simply raised it 1 inch above that bed and that caused the bracket to clear the tie-down with a little room to spare to hook in a strap to the tie down ring. Raising it an inch still gives enough clearance at the top of the box to clear the bed rail and any brackets you may have that clamp a topper or tonnneau cover. While the box does block the tie-down, I can still use the tie-down if needed by simply removing the box. The box lifts off the hinges with little effort. The molded plastic construction of the box is very durable. It is made with a thick plastic. The instructions say you cannot store certain chemicals in it, but this is not a problem for me since I store 9 heavy tie-down straps, trailer locks, a trailer receiver, construction knives, rope, and a 10 foot heavy duty jumper cable in mine. It is quite a bit of weight. The latching mechanism is wonderful. If you watch the videos on this product and how easily it latches, you will see how wonderful it will work when you install it on your truck. The swing latch does leave a little room for play when in the locked position. But this has not been a problem on my truck and I do not hear any rattling noise from it on rough roads. I find the size of the box to be perfect. It is not too large to obstruct other uses of the bed, and not too small that you cannot store enough in the box. It is great for storing items that I do not use very often which I do not want to store in the cab of my truck. If I ever need more storage room, I will get another one of these boxes for the passenger side. I already have an under-seat storage bin in the rear of my cab for items I use more frequently. It has two small bins to hold small items. One is permanently mounted in the small, upper area that is over the wheel well. The other is a floating bin that slides across the top. I keep my trailer keys, locks, and wires in this area. The lid does not open enough when the box is swung in the closed position because of the bed rail. However, there really is not a better way to make the lid work unless the box is made smaller. A side door could help, but then items may fall out when the side door is opened, and the hole for a side door would weaken the box. The installation instructions were well written, and there are online videos showing how to install it. Installation was very simple and took very little time; a lot less time than most aftermarket items I have installed on the truck. It is just installing six self-drilling bolts and you are done. I took the time to predrill pilot holes, but this is not necessary. The videos show how to contend with bed side rails that have a curve to them, and it was just simply to mount the bracket a little higher. My 2013 F150 does not have this curve, but I mounted 1 inch higher anyways to clear the tie-down ring. There is a tab on the hinge to lock the box with a padlock. I don't intend to use this since I have a hard tonneau cover and locking tailgate. The lid has a locking latch. Nice, if you don't want the box opened. However, the box can still be lifted off the hinge, so an extra padlock will be needed on the hinge if you don't want the box removed. The swing latch release mechanism works smoothly. Just simply pull the lever with moderate pressure and the box releases. Then swing the box back into place with a moderate push and it locks back in place. This box is everything I expected it to be. I watched the videos about it before purchasing it, so I knew exactly what I was getting. I recommend it for its decent durability and as a good place to store the small items that don't need to be in the cab. UPDATE: I've been using the heck out of this box, and I have a lot of weight stored in it. It still performs wonderful. The latching mechanism did start to bind up a little; however, I just sprayed a little dielectric grease on the moving parts and it works perfect again.
Review: Great Product, Easy to Install, Would Recommend - UPDATE: Also now have one of these on my 2022 Raptor and my old review holds true. Only issue was that they included one fewer mounting bolt than they were supposed to. It didn't need to be a special size so I just grabbed a random nut and bolt that fit the hole, from my toolbox and was back in business. Read on for original review... Bought this for my 2018 Raptor after I realized the truck doesn't have much compartmentalized storage space, despite being huge. I paid for a luxury truck so I don't like the idea of things rattling around in the cabin or bed outside of trips to the hardware store. I wanted a good storage solution for small and medium items, but didn't want to sacrifice the floor deck space, that my SuperCrew affords, by adding under-seat storage. TLDR Works great. Highly recommended for anyone who doesn't like their stuff rattling around in the bed or rolling around in the cabin. Works with Ford OEM tonneau cover. INSTALL Installation was a breeze. In theory you could do this all with one adjustable wrench and a T30 torx bit on a scredriver. It makes life easier if you have a wrench set with the 30 degree canted enclosed heads (for reaching inside the tail light cavity to hold nuts in place) and a drill for the torx bit. Once you know what you're doing, you can install this in 15 minutes. No modification to your truck is required. QUALITY The mounting solution is solid and confidence inspiring. The construction of the box itself seems solid, though the use of ABS plastic seems a little cheap for a $200 item (it's plenty thick... I just associate ABS with cheap products). It locks in place firmly and hinges out smoothly, even fully loaded with stuff. The lock setup also works well, and you get a positive click when rotating it to open and close. Based on the simplicity of the unit and parts, it seems like a $150 item, but it's worth $200 for its function. FUNCTION I found there to be more space in it than I expected, which is a plus. I was able to get a large tow tongue, extension cord, ratchet straps, large screwdriver and hex wrench sets, flares, WD-40, mini sledge, and more, and there's room left for a small fire extinguisher and other items. If you installed one on each side of the bed, you'd have a serious amount of storage space that's out of the way and doesn't really impede use of the bed. In the event that you need to remove the SwingCase to maximize bed space, it's as simple as releasing the latch and lifting. Takes 5 seconds. The SwingCase locks up nice and firm in its stowed position, and they mounted the release lever offset-inboard, so when you pull it you're applying a torque that naturally swings the case out. It can't actually swing a full 180 degrees because it runs into the bed support cable, but it swings plenty far to be convenient. USE WITH FORD TONNEAU Note for those with an OEM Ford tonneau cover... I was worried the SwingCase would get in the way of the latch lever that holds the tonneau cover down. Turns our Ford's design allows the lever to move out of the way under its spring tension, while still keeping the cover fastened down. It even adds a little spring tension against the SwingCase, helping it swing out when released. No issues here.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this hold up to offroading?**
A: I live up a logging road in the foothills and drive my F350 off-road 4 miles several times a day and mine lasted less than a year. Decent idea, just won't hold up. A very expensive lesson, sadly.

**Q: Can you install these boxes if you have a plastic bed liner on your truck? Can they be installed over the plastic?**
A: I have a spray-on liner, and thick rubber floor mat and had no problem installing the two swing storage boxes in my F-150. I just had to lift the hinge plate up so the bottom of each box cleared the rubber floor mat. As I recall, the instructions are clear about how to install the boxes, but I don't remember the exact instructions. Since the anchor screws must go into metal to make a secure installation, I really don't understand why a little extra plastic bed liner would be a problem. The only problem might be if when tightening up against the bed liner it may create a buckling effect if your liner is not a tight fit against your bed sidewalls. So, to cover all bases, I would imagine the company recommends cutting out a section of bed liner to afford this potential bucking when liner is not a tight fit.

**Q: Will this fit in a 2002 tacoma and can i get to the tie down point?**
A: Bought for 08 F150 fit fine but needed to take out tie down. Have no idea about toyota.

**Q: I ordered a SC 201P and found out it only fits the right side of my truck. Now I need to return it to get the 201D. What a hassle. Left/right?**
A: P=Passenger side D=Driver side left and right can easily get mixed up depending how you look at the truck - facing the hood or facing the tailgate.
