The salt is really fine (almost powdery) so I believe most people should use it as table salt. I do use it for cooking but it is not as salty as regular salt. It it not tasteless by any means, but I would say it has around 60-65% the saltiness of regular sodium chloride (salt).My husband and I did not perceive any bitter aftertaste or anything of that sort, but my spouse does constantly complain that it isn't salty enough so he ends up adding more salt to his taste. I believe it defeats the purpose of low sodium salt but that's his preference;. I am used to foods being low in salt and after using this salt for a while, I find other preparations with regular salt too salty for me.I particularly love it because it is iodized and I come from a country where all salt is iodized by public health law and I was worried it was very uncommon in the US.
