I chose it for the higher wattage and the slimmer profile to save drawer space. Works well, feels solid, easy to clean. Blade seems sharper than the one on the Braun this replaced. The drive-to-handle connection is plastic, but substantial; I think it will hold up better than smaller metal-to-plastic interfaces that have a tendency to strip and vibrate to failure. The 'latch' between the two sections is adequate but seems a bit flimsy; I'll wager it's the weak link in the design that will eventually lead to replacement, but I don't think that's imminent. Review: I used this 5 times and the motor died. I washed it and stored it as instructed. It worked okay but still not great when I did use it (could not get things smooth and the entire house could hear the motor going). The warranty does not cover the replacement product shipping fees to Canada so it would be $21 (unclear whether that was USD or CDN) to pay for the replacement which will--you guessed it--surely die after 5 more uses.
