However, I never used a silicone mold. SILICONE MOLDS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!! Prior to purchasing these molds I used cheap homemade molds using cling wrap, aluminum foil, recycled plastic that I cut (best of these options) and even index cards covered in masking tape (masking tape works well). However, all of the results from my impromptu molds were imperfect and required considerable sanding and cutting. Suffice it to say it was time consuming and never yielded a great or repeatable product, which for me is ok as I make a bunch of odd shapes. Regardless silicone molds are the way to go!Pros:Repeatable useClean and clear surfacesCons:Fixed shapes (I like to use weird and complex shapes)Can be difficult to remove the small prism shapes, larger molds are very easy to removeslight (very small) deformation may occur if you use too much epoxy at once (I'm impatient and don't layer appropriately)So I would absolutely recommend the use.Part Dimensions:Sphere - ~3.2" diameterCoaster type thing with Donut shape on opposing side- Coaster part: 3.125" with 2.75" diameter 0.15" raised circle.
