It take the temp almost immediately. And consistently.I would highly recommend it. ### ⭐ Very inconsistent and varied temps.. Used correctly and clean/new. I've since receive another one that I will test/update asap *by P***R on October 22, 2016* I purchased this about 3 weeks ago and when I received it I read the instructions and tested it a few times on myself and it seemed accurate (varying just slightly between multiple readings) so I gave it a 5-star rating... Today is the first time I've needed to use it... I've been feverish for about 12 hours with stomach upset and wanted to know my temp so I tried the forehead mode... 98.3... ok. But IM really burning up and have chills, aches, etc...? so I repeated it:next it was 99.7... 97.8... 98.7... 100.4 (alarm even sounded) then 102... hmmm... I really don't feel great and not crazy about having to figure this out... so tried the ear setting multiple times. This one didn't vary as much but still was 97-99.8.... I'm certain I have a fever but this thermometer has told me it's anywhere between 97 and 102... great. Guess It will remain a mystery... I don't need a thermometer to give me a temp range of 97-102. My first review of this product was 5 stars - I tested it a few times and it seemed to be accurate. Frustrating, because I'm certain most reviews are from people who did the same thing... or didn't test it multiple times. I read poor reviews saying the same thing I experienced but I thought maybe they weren't following directions or had poor contact....I would absolutely not recommend this to anyone. I'm just happy it wasn't my little one who is sick and depending on this thermometer. The instructions are not terribly detailed.
