It's clear glass with a black backing.Glass cutting boards (at least all the ones I've seen) have a textured side which you are meant to cut on, and a smooth side, the underside, where the little feet are. The smooth side is where the black backing is.Glass cutting boards are the best for your health because they do not harbor bacteria like plastic and wood, and they don't leach plastic into your food.But, they are noisy and they will dull your knives. I would rather ruin my knives than my health so we use glass. To mitigate the noise and the wear on my knives I generally use the underside, the smooth side.With this cutting board I cannot do that. Cutting on whatever is stuck to the back will probably damage it and I have no idea what it might leach into our food.If the black color were IN the glass rather than on it, I would keep it. But, it isn't, so mine is going back.It was well packed and arrived in a timely manner but I prefer the clear version. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can love that they match my counters so well and they are made well. *by N***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021* These match my counter tops very well. The cutting board is exactly what I ordered. I thought I wanted black, but, now I regret it. It shows every little crumb. My fault, I should have thought of that before ordering.
