Somehow mutes background hiss better than my radios with full digital tuners. The bad: dial frequencies are vague, glow-in-the-dark portion is just the center stripe, not the numbers. Headphone jack doesn't accept normal headphone plug. You'll need a mono to stereo adapter to hear the mono sound out of both headphone speakers. Bottom line: Excellent radio that now lives in my kitchen for background music, uses hardly any power and gets every station my larger stereo does. Bonus tip 1: plug into AC power even if you don't need to as the power cord is used as a secondary antenna and pulls in more stations this way. Bonus tip 2: There is a microswitch inside the AC power port that prevents battery power from being used if the cord is plugged in.
