## Questions & Answers

**Q: I can’t get this system set up! What is the best way to get help on setting up this sound bar?**
A: The directions were vague in some regards but helped me through the whole process. For the most part I simply plugged in and powered it on and most of it worked just fine. The thing that needed additional configuring was the “play-fi” portion aspect and setting up different zones.

What are you having trouble with? Feel free to contact me at massfittraining@gmail.com if you need some help and want to exchange info so we can talk/text more efficiently.

**Q: Best cable to use?**
A: The answer depends upon your application, but an optical cable will satisfy most needs.

**Q: any solution to a type of feedback hum or pitch that is horribly annoying. I have seen others who have stated such but no solution to the problem.**
A: No solution, Klipsch denied even acknowledging there is a noise evident, however replaced my soundbar anyway. Within a week the same white noise was evident on the replacement soundbar as well.

**Q: Does this soundbar handle lossless formats such as flac ?**
A: If you use the playfi app and a service such as Tidal or Amazon Music that Playfi supports and has Hi-Res music, it will support it. There is a setting on the Play-fi app.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Klipsch RSB-14
*by M***Y on July 7, 2017*

I have only had this for two days but very impressed with the crisp sound quality. I listened to SONOS, which sound good but had no bluetooth capability. Listen to Bose, which were good but price was up there like SONOS, 700 bucks each for bar and sub-woofer. Found the Klipsch which supported bluetooth and also offered Play-Fi functionality. Subwoofer is sitting in corner of room about 20 feet away with no connectivity issues. The sub-woofer does not have any volume controls on the back, however the the bass does not over take the highs with the right amount of rumble when watching movies. I saw some complaints concerning the 8" sub-woofer but it sounds fine to me. I have a JBL SB400 in my game room and the bass is too strong for the highs, so music sounds muffled, also words when watching movies. Nevertheless the Klipsch was very crisp and I could clearly hear words, cymbals and clear clean sound in action movies. My living room is 20 by 22 with 10' ceilings and open to the kitchen. The sound fills the room nicely and with more speakers in the soundbar offer a better surround sound feel. I will be adding the rear speakers per Play-Fi soon. I am sure this will compliment the system. I would recommend this product. It's loud, clear, and bluetooth functional with Play-Fi to add more speakers in your home for half the price of Bose and SONOS.Like SONOS the Klipsch offers it's own wifi router to improve connectivity for adding speakers to the Play-Fi rather than running it on your own wireless router and possibly have lost connections. So compared to SONOS and Bose the quality of Klipsch and it's history as speaker manufacturing company this is a quality system for the price you spend if you want a quality system at a reduced cost.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Superior Sound, however inconsistant "surround sound" with additional wireless speakers.
*by K***R on April 17, 2018*

(Little background) 8 years ago I sold my Klipsch Reference speakers in an effort to remove some of the "bulk" from our Living room. Over the years I had tried 2 Vizio 5.1 soundbars systems and a Sony 5.1 soundbar. The convenience and the footprint of the soundbars was always nice but it never quite the same high fidelity.Seeing this soundbar I decided to take one more chance given my previous experience with Klipsch (3 Pro-media speaker sets, and the Reference component speaker lines). While it still may not be comparable to a full component of floor/bookshelf speakers, I can feel sound again in the highs from the horn tweeters to the thuds of the sub filling out pieces of sound in movies I've not heard in years.Sound is exactly what I expected from Klipsch, however I also want to be transparent on drawbacks (which was not surprising since they are a speaker company and not a technology company). The lights on the soundbar can be hard to see from across the room so it makes it difficult see when you're making changes via the remote. After enabling HDMI CEC the TV started to display the "volume" bar on the screen to that did help somewhat.Additionally, I did purchase two Klipsch RW-1 speakers to use as rear channels for 5.1 sound. There are some hoops to jump though to get them configured (had to flash the soundbar via a USB drive, and a smart phone to flash the rear speakers), and I found that the "wireless" audio transmission was spotty at best causing the rear channels to drop signal frequently.(4 Month assessment)At this point I still love the sound from the soundbar. But the inconsistencies in the software (PlayFi connection to wiresless RW-1 speakers) has finally caused me to take action. The connection to the rears either provide a bubbling noise, or varies in volume taking you out of the surround experience. I'm trying to work on a solution (currently ordering a Klipsch PowerGate and also working with Klipsch support) but I'm done with trying to use the RSB-14 with the RW-1s as a true 5.1 setup. We'll see if Klipsch support tells me something new (besides replacing my Linksys Velop system which wasn't an option). I loved the concept of this (and its cost a pretty penny) if you're expecting stable 5.1 consider other systems (Sonos, Samsung, Sony). Most likely going to have to see if I can work something out with Amazon or Klipsch to return the RW-1s (just not been a pleasant experience though I've tried my best).(support resolution)The Klipsch PowerGate placed right next to the RSB-14 has fixed my audio issues (have it wired to rear bookshelf speakers). I've asked Klipsch support to engage the DTS Play-Fi coding team to consider allowing the "surround" data to travel over ethernet as an option vs having only the 5ghz wireless. Issue in my setup is that one of my Linksys Velop WiFi access points is 6ft from the soundbar (and it must be causing interference with the 5ghz signal to the RW-1s positioned 12 feet from the sound bar). Amazon made an exception and allowed me to return the RW-1s (thank you Amazon for the support). I still say that the sound quality from this soundbar is superior to any other soundbar I have had, and now fixing my surround issues I'm happy with this (happier than other soundbar surround solutions I've had). Just want to make sure my experience and outcome is documented for others thinking of getting this for a 5.1 setup (the RSB-14 and RW-1s configuration).

### ⭐ Disappointing klipsch soundbar
*by D***S on December 25, 2023*

I've had this for 1 year now. It sounded ok at first but wasn't long before issues started popping up. The audio started crackling. Audio would cut in and out, changed hdmi cables out several times which did help but problem would soon return. Lately the system just powers off while watching. Right now I have the unit powered off and listening thru TV internal speakers and am looking for another sound bar system. I would not recommend this system.
