## Overview

The Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill combines a powerful 12,000 BTU stainless steel burner with a spacious 280 sq. inch cooking area, all housed in a lightweight yet durable cast-aluminum frame. Designed for professionals and enthusiasts alike, it features fold-out side tables, a built-in thermometer, and ergonomic controls, making it the ultimate portable grill for tailgating, camping, or elevating your patio setup.

## Description

Restyled for 2014, the Weber Q 220 is now the Weber Q 2200. The grill has the same great performance and sleek styling, but adds new aesthetics that are both functional and fun, including larger grip handle and control knobs, ergonomic side handles, sturdy front and rear cradles, larger-sized fold-out side tables with greater rigidity plus the familiar Weber Q logo prominently branded in the lid. Split grates allow for a grate/griddle cooking combination: Just replace one of the grates with the Q 2000-series compatible griddle (sold separately) and experience an alternative way to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner on your grill. The tall lid accommodates the grilling of small roasts and birds, while the large built-in thermometer allows you to monitor temperatures inside the grill. The Weber Q 2200 is ideal for use when camping and tailgating but, thanks to a design that offers both compact overall size and large grilling surface, can double as a stationary grill in your outdoor living space. The grill runs on disposable LP cylinders (not included), but an optional LP adapter hose for 20-lb. tanks is available as an accessory. A seamless stainless steel burner is your assurance of durability and long-lasting performance. The cast-aluminum lid and body are both lightweight and rugged. May be used with Weber Portable Cart model #6557 and Q Cart model #6525.

Review: A great portable grill with virtually no flaws. - A solid Weber product that was purchased as the primary cooking tool for our new RV. Putting the product together is a snap. The shelves are already attached, you pretty much just attach the handle and the thermometer, and stick the grates in the grill. It is a single burner grill that is well placed in the housing to allow for even cooking anywhere on the grates. The electric start is quick and the single heat control knob is accurate and secure. I purchased the adapter hose to be able to use a 20 lb. tank of propane and have a couple of the 1 lb. canisters in the event of an unexpected main-tank shortage. Cooking performance, for such a small grill, is exceptional. Its get up to about 300 degrees very quickly, and takes a bit longer to get up to 500-550. But, a 10-15 preheat period will get you there. I cook Costco chicken breasts for about 15 minutes on high and they come out perfectly juicy with a slight crispiness on the edges, which is how my wife likes them. A word of caution, don't dilly-dally when you are flipping your food, since the housing is aluminum instead of cast iron to save weight, it doesn't retain heat as well as a full-size Weber product - one of the trade-offs for a portable grill and not something you can really ding. Flip it quick and shut the grill. I like diamond-pattern grill marks, so I rotate chicken at about 3 or so minutes and flip at about 7 minutes. Once I have started cooking, the temperature still stays between 400-500 even with multiple lid-ups to flip/rotate. One thing I would have liked to see would be built-in slots to hang grilling tools on the shelves. Speaking of the shelves, they are strong enough to handle any amount of food that you are going to grill. I have read some reviews that state the shelves are wobbly and not strong. Are you grilling bricks or barbells? I have had a big plate of chicken on one shelf and flat of Costco steaks on the other. Nope, you can't stand on the shelves but they perform well for all reasonable people. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone who needs a portable grill or does not have room on their patio for a full-sized Weber gas grill.
Review: Excellent compact gas grill - This is a very nice, compact, gas (propane) grill that we've just purchased for use on our apartment balcony (charcoal grills being prohibited for use there, understandably). It does require some basic assembly which is straightforward and not difficult. The grill is moderately heavy due mostly to the cast iron cooking grates which were one of the main reasons for our selecting this particular grill for purchase. The lid and body of the grill are cast-aluminum, much lighter in weight and hopefully durable over time. The two side tables fold inward and fit under the cover to reduce the footprint of the grill when not in use. It fires up immediately - initially we are using one of the small 16.4 oz LP cylinders that attach directly to the grill (smaller 14.1 oz size also fits). I also purchased the adaptor hose so that we can use larger refillable propane tanks. We purchased this along with the following accessories: - Weber 6557 Q Portable Cart for Grilling - Weber 6415 Small 7-1/2-Inch-by-5-inch Aluminum Drip Pans, Set of 10 - Weber 6501 Adapter Hose for Weber Q-Series and Gas Go-Anywhere Grills, 6-Feet - Weber 6552 Premium Grill Cover, Fits Weber Q, Q-200, and Q-220 with Cart It's a fine setup, suitable for the back patio but also portable and lightweight enough to put in the back of the pickup or SUV and use when camping or fishing or at tailgate parties. Weber has a couple of grills with similar styling. This is the medium size model, and we selected this because of the larger grilling surface while still maintaining good portability. We first saw this grill at the local Home Depot. I found several advantages to purchasing here on desertcart (prices were the same) - there are several color choices available here, and there is a more complete selection of the different sizes that Weber offers. Very satisfied with this grill, and if we find any other points worth mentioning here as we use it over time, I will return and update this review accordingly.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can anyone tell me the footprint of the legs? I need to know the length and width on the legs footprint.**
A: I don't have this grill yet, but I plan to buy it for my camper soon. The most common unanswered question I've seen about this grill is the closed dimensions, which you would think Weber would publicize, considering it's meant to be a compact, portable grill. Because of this, I went into a Home Depot yesterday, and measured the floor model. The width, with the side shelves closed, is 32 inches. The height, with the lid closed, is 15.5 inches. The depth, with the lid closed, measured from the front of the handle to the back of the hinges is 18.5 inches. The feet have a footprint of 21 inches wide by 15 inches deep. The side tables are about 12 inches wide, and they do fold to inside of the grill when not in use. The grilling surface, measured at its longest points, is 22 inches wide by 16 inches deep. The grilling surface does taper somewhat towards each end. There are two grilling grates, so one can be replaced with the griddle. The grate does have an integrated "cover" over the burner. The regulator does look like it is screwed in, so can be removed to attach it to another regulated source like that on a camper. I couldn't try to unscrew it in store, because the regulator is held in place with a couple screws.

**Q: how long does small propane canister last?**
A: I get 2 1/2 hours out of a Coleman disposable cannister using this way:

1. 8 minutes on high to preheat.
2. Turn down to 1/2 heat when I toss on my steak.
3. Steaks take around 4 to 6 minutes depending on thickness.

I cooked exactly as above thru 3 canisters, and used a timer each time I fired it up and extinguished it.

I have since converted over to a full size propane tank - I just wanted to see how long the canisters would last.

**Q: All the dimensions I see are with the lid open and the side platforms extended. What are the "buttoned up" dimensions with the lid closed?**
A: Contacted Weber (800) 446-1071 Rep said it was approximately, since she had to go to floor and measure, lid closed tables retracted Q2200 is 27 inches long, Q1200 17 inches long

**Q: Does anyone know what the weight and dimensions of the boxed grill are?**
A: Hi! The box dimensions of the Q2200 are L: 32.5" x W: 18.2" x H: 17.6" with a weight of 43.5lbs. Thanks!
