Review: This blanket is a huge hit with both me and my very old man cat. He took to it immediately which was an added bonus. He sleeps in it almost all of the time now. It's wonderfully fluffy and soft on both sides, and while you can feel the slippery waterproof layer in between the fluffy exterior it makes no noise, and doesn't affect how the blanket feels when you're curled in it. The fact that it's huge (I bought the queen size) is fantastic, I don't have to fight for space under it with my cat. I can confirm it is waterproof, which is fantastic - I was worried it was all talk. While the spill was small, it didn't soak through at all despite the fact that it sat for a unknown time (woke up to random wet spot on one side). It's incredibly warm, and is holding up well to constant kneeding, and drooling. Following the specific wash instructions has kept it fluffy and cuddly, and waterproof. I cannot recommend this blanket enough. It gives me confidence to leave my old man alone in my place without fear of returning to soiled furniture so long as this blanket is out. EDIT: I've had this blanket for almost 2 years now, and wanted to weigh in again. My old man cat's incontinence has gotten worse, and I could not be more thankful for this blanket. He has multiple accidents during the night, and only once has the liquid seeped through. The time that it did was because he laid on the spot for several hours, so adding pressure will let a small amount of liquid through. I've washed this blanket every second day for the last 6 months, according to the tag (cool water wash, tumble dry low), and it has retained it's waterproofing marvelously. It still works wonders, and is still really snuggly. It’s very quiet, like a typical blanket. My dog sleeps on my bed and she sleeps on this blanket. It’s not noisy at all. **Q: Does dog hair come off easily in the washer or does it stick?** A: I haven’t had issues with hair sticking after washing. **Q: Would it work well for personal use as an patio furniture throw? It doesnt absorb water?** A: The out layer absorbs water, there is a layer in between that doesnt allow the water to seep through. If you are meaning to use it on damp patio furniture it may work with dampness from dew or light rain it should work well, but for soaking wet furniture cushions it may not work as well. **Q: does this absorb the liquid or does the liquid just pool on top? thanks** A: The liquid will soak through to the waterproof membrane and stop there. It doesn’t float on top like liquid on a plastic tarp. The liquid does not go to the other side. I wash on warm and add an enzyme-based deodorizer with detergent, and dry on medium.
