However, TheraPutty allows you to check whether you’re using your full grip equally and offers flexibility in exercises, down to individual digits and thumbs. For instance, you can’t train your extensors with a gripper. It’s either squeeze and hold for duration or squeeze and release in repetitions. With the putty, you can push your fingers in and extend or work your thumbs as hooks. You can do the rehabilitative loops for flexors and extensors, squeeze until your fingers touch your palm, and even use it for resistance for fist formations such as the Phoenix eye fist (extend first knuckle like you’re pressing an elevator button) or the leopard’s paw. After a few weeks of constant use, I now can close the elusive larger grippers (250 lbs.) a few times. It’s also great to strengthen hands and wrists for things like hitting a heavy bag or lifting large skillets or yard work. Probably good for golf or baseball. I can’t think of a sport or martial art that doesn’t benefit from better grip strength: Judo, boxing or badminton. Automation also has contributed to relative declines in grip strength, which leads to poor gripping for work or sport and can contribute to injuries. I like using this product but after about 2 weeks it loses all its strength .
