This bag is made of their stronger Mylar material that they have used for blankets in the past. It's the best material I've had for these type blankets but now in an enclosed bag. They make my blankets almost obsolete. The pouch it comes in will protect these bags 1000% better than a zip-lock bag or shrink wrap ever would that you already have. The pouch is rip stop material and more like a lightweight pack fabric. For space the whole thing will squish to about half the size of the loaded pouch or you could fit 2, maybe 3 in the pouch. I purchased 3 for 3 separate go bags but frankly I didn't get enough. I probably need 1 in the car for every member of the family. It's still one of those "you hope you never use it" things but if you do need it there should be no odd-man-out. Not like space blanket which tears easily. I have used it with my conventional bag as an outside cover and it works very well. **Q: is this bag meant for repeated use? could it be trusted in place of a down bag on backpacking trips?** A: Yes, you could use it multiple times. It rolls up to about a 6 inch x 3 inch roll roughly, so it's compact and light weight. The material is nice and very thin, it gets the job done, keeping you protected and warm. I don't think it was intended to replace your primary bedding. It wouldn't be as comfortable as a down bag. **Q: How do you get into this bag? Is it only open on the one end? Is there a side opening with velcro to close? A draw string at opening?** A: David, the bags are sealed on all but the top side. You pull it out of the storage bag, shake it out to expand, and then slide in from the top. **Q: Could this be used as part of an emergency car kit for the winter in the midwest?** A: Live in Upstate NY,Have one in my car for that. I have used other mylars in cold conditions & they work ok. I slept in it w/out a sleeping bag! *by S***G on December 28, 2016* I haven't used this product as of yet but comparing the quality of this product to that of the ISO (discontinued). I have to say that Titan is definitely on the extra thick side which I am certain as the product suggest is that it can be used on more than one occasion given some care. The ISO was used in Yosemite at Campsite 4 where people have to wake up early and get there and patiently wait in line until the ranger arrives at the kiosk. The temperature forecast dictates the night temperature to be around low 38-45 at night which isn't so bad considering that we are in late spring. Everyone is in there sleeping bag by this time and sleeping and I was foolish enough to give my ISO a try. The outside temperature was cold but not cold enough for me to die in because I was of course in my pants and thermal + thin jacket. The trick is to just get inside the bag without the bag touching you sort of like a bubble and with just enough opening for your head. Throw in a few Yatrak 18+ hours body warmer and I was good to go. Sure I could still feel a bit of the chill but hey...the bag did what it was intended to do and that is to keep most of my body heat from escaping thus keeping me for some part of it warm. I am certain with the right clothing and better jacket...I could easily have survived in low 30's with not much of a problem. Again...you're not going to sleep naked with this bag thinking you will be fine!
