I grew up with a Japanese lady as my "second mom" when her and her husband moved into our neighborhood two doors down and our family's kind of adopted each other (have known her for over 50 yrs she is now 93). Anyway, having grown up with Asian food and desserts my whole life I much prefer the "sweets and desserts" bc they just hit that spot of needing a dessert without soooo much of the sugar that tends to make me a little nauseous. This particular cake is perfect for adding fruit on top bc it's a little like pound cake. I also make homemade whipped cream (think Cool Whip) and we love having it for a dessert after dinner. I don't understand the negative ratings bc the flavor is also good. No weird aftertastes or anything. Sometimes I just open one up and eat it by itself as a snack.
