I was only interested in hiding the wires and powering the dash cam with the accessory switch on. I did not wire this camera to run while parked with the engine off, so I can't comment about the low battery protection feature of this device.I chose this unit over all the others because:1) Unlike many similar devices, this one has 2 ferrite beads to reduce radio-frequency interference. There are several complaints of VHF, AM, and FM radio interference on kits that don't incorporate a ferrite bead. On my device, the bead is 5 inches away from the camera so it rests nicely within the headliner of my Tacoma.2) This unit uses 22AWG wire between the converter box and the mini-B USB plug. Other devices use something between 24 to 28AWG wire which will lead to voltage drop over a 10 ft length. My voltmeter showed 4.98 V at the USB plug on this device, compared to 4.97 V on the cigarette lighter power cord that came with the A119 dash cam.3) The working temperature on this device is rated between -40 to 160 F. Reviews of similar unrated devices had comments about power interruptions at low temperatures. Temps do not fall that low where I live, so I can't test this, but I figure the internals are more robust.I have had this unit in operation for about 2 months with no problems. If it fails, I will leave the USB plug/ferrite bead/22AWG wiring in place (don't want to take apart the A-pillar again) and splice in a new higher amperage buck converter.
