I carry it around as I water my plants to ensure I don’t overwater. I do wish the top was tilted back a bit as when pushing the probe deeply into the ground it is hard to read. One must bend over almost to the ground to read it. I tested the probe by inserting it into bagged soil, a newly watered plant/tree, and a pot of soil that was dry with a fake plant in it. It read as expected so I trust it now. The price is good, particularly for two (so I keep one in the garage and the other in the shed), and as of now the durability is perfect, although I do not leave it in the ground or in direct sun.
