The four second delay - which I didn't know about - would explain that. **Q: Will it measure distance in miles?** A: The total distance is in miles. I.E. 0.72 or 1.57. The window right after STEP is miles. **Q: Does this count your actual steps or arm swings? I can't swing my arms.** A: I attach it to my jeans pocket and get accurate readings. At the gym I attach it to my workout capri hem and again get the reading. **Q: What type/size battery(s) does this unit require?** A: It's a CR2032 button style battery. Not sure how long it'll last, but after your question I checked some websites and it seems I can expect it to last perhaps as long as one year. The instruction sheet that came with the pedometer recommends that a jeweler replace the battery, but there are instructions for replacement which looks pretty straightforward. My thoughts now are that the battery replacement will cost me a few dollars annually. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfectly and would recommend *by J***R on August 4, 2017* The pedometer is a bit larger than I would have preferred (3" x 1.5" with the clip x just under 1" deep with the clip) but it works great and the clip is quite sturdy. To the best of my knowledge there is no pedometer that is exact, but this is really close. You may need to find the best location to put it for accuracy, but that is the same with all pedometers. The numbers are easy to read and it was easy to set up too! This suits my needs perfectly since I did not want something that will require some sort of app or phone to use it and this fit the bill perfectly and the price is great! It would be nice if it also told you the speed at which you are walking, but it does give me the information on steps I have walked as well as the time and distance so I am quite happy and would definitely recommend this to others. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bigger than I like and not intuitive *by S***Y on December 7, 2016* I had a smaller pedometer which I lost, this one works well.
