As mentioned in other reviews, the base of these plants is hollow but my solution is to slide them over a bottle for more stability. There is no plastic smell and the fronds stay where placed. Over all, they look fantastic and give off the tropical vibe I was searching for. I am happy with my purchase and plan to buy more for my other planters.
