I don't think it would be good for someone picking up floss and hoop for the very first time. As always, the kit comes with plenty of embroidery floss, etc. Stitches include: chain stitch, outline/stem stitch, lazy daisy, satin, French knot (could do Colonial knot instead), cobweb rose (aka wagon wheel or woven rose), leaf stitch (fishbone), straight stitch.The instructions for the eyes called for satin stitching, but I find that difficult to do in small, tight spaces, especially ones that curve, so I substituted the outline stitch instead, laying rows down against one another. One big challenge is that when you look at the pattern (and the sample illustration of the finished product), you can clearly see the nose, whiskers, and eyelashes. However, I did the "fur" on the face first (using the chain stitch), which then obscured the pattern for the nose, whiskers, and eyelashes. I had to use best judgment for placement after that. It was a bit tricky, and I wound up removing my first attempt at the nose and stitching it a second time. (A pair of sharp, pointed embroidery scissors are a must for anyone doing embroidery, but I have found that a seam-ripper is best for removing bad stiches.) For the whiskers, I "sketched" them out using long "basting" stitches, then went over those with outline stitches. Even still, that was a bit of a challenge because the whisker color was so close to the fur color.I did play with the colors a bit using floss from previous projects, because that's a compulsion I can't seem to help, so my colors don't match the sample illustration exactly, but all turned out well. I opted to not stitch the ear over the eye on the left, but the pattern didn't wash out of the fabric entirely, so I may have to add the ear after all.I didn't keep close track of the time spent doing this, but I'd estimate about 25-30 hours. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not printed fully and was very overwhelming *by I***. on Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2023* It says embroidery or crossstitch but it was for crossstitch.
