It's machined really well and is definitely a professional's piece of gear. I use it to attach my Atomos Shogun to my cage, via a magic arm. It makes attaching and removing the monitor a breeze - it used to be an awkward screw-in procedure that was risky for the monitor and time consuming. The locking mechanism on this is super solid, and both sides bolt in to their respective mounts very well. In the photo here you can see it on the left at the base of the magic arm. I figured this item would be relatively easy to adapt and decided to give it a try. I was able to cut the end off the Sunpak mounting plate and bolt the Neewer base to it, then attached the other piece to a short section of PVC to duplicate the post for the Sunpak.The Neewer quick release has worked out well, and while it's not as easy to operate as the simple push-button release on the Sunpak, I don't have to worry about it suddenly dropping or rotating.
