This splatter screen is so much better than the mesh screens I'd used in the past. Two main advantages:1. It's sturdy and entirely flat (unlike the mesh screens that quickly get bent/warped, and eventually rather fragile), which contributes to the minimised splatter (there is some, of course, as you have to remove it when flipping whatever it is you're cooking), and2. It is ridiculously easy to clean (also, it really *is* clean; with those mesh screens, I was never really sure, even after running them through a dishwasher cycle).I haven't used it as a trivet or strainer yet, but frankly, even if I never do and only use it as a splatter screen (well, two splatter screens, which is another plus), I will consider my money very well spent.Edited to add: I unexpectedly did use it as a strainer -- I needed to drain a large batch of red onions after a soak in cold water. Normally, I'd just hold the onions with my hand while draining the water, but this was a large batch and a much larger bowl, so it wouldn't quite have worked. Then I thought about this splatter screen -- and it worked like a charm. Even though it was smaller than the bowl, its flexibility made draining the water while keeping the onions from falling out really easy. ### ⭐⭐ Traps moisture, so crisp finish is not happening.... *by D***W on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2017* This was a very good price for two splatter shields & I was looking for something with a handle that didn't get hot like those that are metal with plastic in the middle, and it did achieve that. However, when we fry with it, we can't get a crispy finish because of all the moisture it traps in...my son complained about the breakfast sausage because it no longer had that crisp edge! We are going back to a metal screen, which fries with a crisp finish when you want it & doesn't trap all the moisture. We did find a metal screen on amazon with a silicon coated handle, which is the best design I can think of for the moment, we'll see how it does.... ### ⭐ This is terrible and prepare to burn your hands. *by D***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2016* If you intend to use this as designed, the product will get burning hot to the touch making it impossible to move without using pot holders. It would be easier to use your existing pot cover to prevent splatter.I thought this would be as effective as the metal ones you see with a handle, but these are crap.
