I have been using two layers of 100% cotton flannel but recently decided to branch out a bit. Using this fabric as the outer layer and 100% cotton flannel against the skin (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TF3CNU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) makes a decent mask. I washed it and there was no running or fading. It has an antique/distressed look that works well.Show your colors loud and proud!One warning to newbies (like me). This pattern has a "right side up", that is, it matters which edge is at the top of the mask.
