**Q: Does this have any other active ingredients other than Guaifenesin?**
A: I am reading directly from the bottle and it reads: Active ingredient in each immediate-realease tablet :Guiafenesin 400mg  ................Expectorant

**Q: are these the 4 hr. dose or the 12 hr.?**
A: 4 hours @ 400mg.  The 12-hour versions have 1200mg in slow release pill.Same with cough suppressant Dextromethorphan Hbr; 4 hours @ 20mg, and slow release 12hours @ 60mg.  True for all OTC pharma -  12-hour versions are 3x "normal" 4-6 hour ingredients at also about the same unit price (3x normal).

**Q: What is 400mg guaifenesin 20mg dexdrmedthorpan hbr?**
A: As others said, guaifenesin, thins mucus so the body can expel it easier; Dextromethorphan Hbr is an OTC cough suppressant.  You need a cough suppressant to stop coughing so your lungs can heal or get sleep.   It depends on your condition whether an expectorant or a suppressant is needed.  I suppose if your lungs are stuffy, but not coughing, this (Gua. ..  only) is OK.  But if your have a hacking cough, your condition needs a doctor to listen to your lungs and a suppressant is needed (like prescription codeine).The dosage you cited is 4-6 hours; 12-hour version has triple the active ingredients in a slow release pill (1200mg Guaif, and 60mg Dex Hbr).Generally, every version is "maximum strength", so the only difference is 4 hour or 12-hour version.

**Q: What was the expiration date on the bottle you received?  Was it fresh?**
A: The two bottles we are using now expire July 2016 and the two new ones expire August 2016. We have been using this brand for two years now and have never had a problem and they have always worked for us using our Doctor's guidelines for allergies and colds to dry us up and keep our nasal passages clear.
