It would be great for laundry soap/pods. However, we're using it for something else (Men uncomfortable with "women's stuff" stop reading now...).My daughter is allergic to something used in disposable period pads - even the organic ones, so we have the non-disposable, cloth ones that we launder (no different than cloth diapers, really, so if you did that then consider reusable cloth pads...If you're considering it, these are her favorites: as well as the "old style" by this brand. The newer style by them she doesn't like. We also have these that work well too but feel more bulky: ). Anyways, most websites recommend using small diaper pails for the used pads & that's what we've had for a year now, but she wanted something more discreet that would fit in a very narrow cabinet we have in the bathroom . This fits perfectly and works great for our purpose. In the laundry room we have the diaper pail, so this can be dumped into the diaper pail or straight into the washer. The lid isn't super tight, but closes well enough to contain any potential odor (like a diaper pail does), and it doesn't say anything that would be embarrassing to a young teen.
