Note - this unit has only 7 floats not 10. However it is still worth the price. WARNING - these contain paraffin oil. If you break one and that is likely, it is a nightmare to clean up. Paraffin oil is soaked up by nearly nothing. Paraffin oil even refuses to succumb to paper towels. The glass is thin and for a reason - if the glass was thicker, it would take a longer time for the thermometer to reach the ambient temperature.THAT BEING SAID - do not hesitate to grab one of these. I've bought several from AMAZON and all have arrived in-tact and are within just a few degrees of the room temperature. Actually the 24-inch version I have is nearly 100% accurate. It takes time for it to reach room temperature so be patient and you will be pleasantly surprised. I thought from the sound it was making when it was delivered that it was broken. The sound I was hearing was the glass spheres inside the thermometer hitting the thermometer. I was surprised at how durable it is. I like to watch it from time to time.
