They’re killing the baby doves.** A: I had a huge problem with Grackles.. Eating all the suet cakes, knocking bird feeders from trees, etc.. I cut like 6 inch wide strips of aluminum foil and about 12 inches long.. Taped the strips to tree limbs and to all the chains on bird feeders.. The grackles dont go near them now.. Even in the rare occasion that they try to land on a feeder, as soon as the aluminum foil moved,they flew off.. Try foil on little poles or taped to blow in the wind anywhere you want to scare them off **Q: will it help keep birds off pool ????? need help with that** A: I had a bird building a nest on my patio ceiling fan. I taped the rods to each fan blade but it did not deter the bird unfortunately. Not sure how they would work for a pool. **Q: I have an eagle killing ducks. Will it help to keep the eagles away?** A: It will not help one bit. If these stupid things will not work on our robins and sparrows, then Eagles will certainly ignore these shiny things as well. So far it is working. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ These require a little ingenuity to hang effectively *by A***R on November 10, 2024* These are very lightweight plastic. I’ve had the first set about a month. They do seem to have helped with our bird situation. That stated, they come with something like a cross between a flimsy rubber band and a string to hang them by. Almost thread-like. It would last maybe a month in sun and weather. For my application, I hung mine by using a small steel mounting hook attached to the house, a key ring, and a heavy duty fishing swivel. They twirl in the wind as they’re designed to do and with my additions should last hopefully at least 6 months or so. I have no illusions about their longevity or the silver shiny coating on them surviving sunlight for long. I do like that they are light weight because if they were heavier they would likely tangle on the hook I used and not twirl. I think the motion of twirling and waving in the wind is the secret sauce. We’ll see. They are doing the job with a little help as described.
