**Q: How long will this product be visible after it is added to machine oil?**
A: It stayed visible in engine oil (Mobil -1-), for at least 1500 miles.  I believe that it remains visible until oil change.  This is desirable if you are looking for a slow leak.

**Q: Can this dye be used in coolant/antifreeze also?**
A: This product is only meant to work with oil. I would not recommend using this in your cooling system.

**Q: What quantity of dye per quart of oil do I need for transmission fluid**
A: The manufacturer's instructions state that the dilution ratio is 1 oz. of Dye-Lite TP-3400 (fluorescent leak detection dye) for every 12 quarts of automatic transmission fluid. The ratio for engine oil is 0.5 oz. per 4-6 quarts. For additional information about the product you can contact, Tracer Products, at 800-641-1133 or www.tracerline.com.

**Q: Oil already glows under a black light how does this help**
A: We use black light to find leaks in big diesel engines. Engine oil (at least the ones we use), diesel fuel and coolant do not glow under black light.

This stuff glows great with a good UV light, king of a bright orange. It's made in the USA! Dosage is on the box, I've added less and still got a good glow where the leak was. Purchased this product (along with Uview 413010 Battery Powered, 6 LED Leak Detection Light) to diagnose a persistent oil leak on my wife's 2006 Kia Sedona. While the oil leak wasn't tremendous in volume, it had gotten everywhere and was making the job of determining the exact source of the leak quite difficult indeed. After placing a 1 ounce bottle of the tracer dye in the oil and driving around the neighborhood for a bit, I took a look with the detection light while wearing the yellow-colored glasses. Initially, the areas fluorescing were difficult to see. After turning out the lights in my shop, however, it was much easier to see and I was able to pinpoint the source of the leak. Since its initial purchase, I've been able to use this product often to help diagnose oil leaks for a number of other vehicles belonging to friends and family. For better or worse, my home shop has become the go-to place for friends and family looking to diagnose an oil leak before taking it to the shop for this purpose. Of course, the real money-saver for the DIYer is if you're willing to make the repair as well as part of the process. My only complaint (not related to the product) is the need to have the vehicle in the dark in order to adequately see there areas where the tracer fluid is fluorescing. There are probably stronger lights out there that would preclude this need, but for the price of the tracer fluid and the UV light, it's a small thing to have to turn off the shop lights for a bit in order to see the leak clearly.
