Every remote I own is plastic......Three things for the remote to function properly:1-you NEED the lighted version of the MB Quart speakers (has an "L" in the model number)2- each speaker requires 12 volts of DC power (a completely separate connection from the speaker wires) in addition to the speaker sound connections.3- the 12 volts of DC power must be applied to the speaker (turned on) for the remote to THEN control the lights.In addition to receiving signal from the remote, the speakers must wirelessly transmit and communicate with each other because the lights stay in sync.
