Not as sharp as advertised, with the exception of the two smaller paring knives (purple and blue, respectively, although I'm sure color has nothing to do with performance ; ). I have never put them in the dishwasher; they're too easy to clean.Be aware they come without sheathes; my mother cut herself before I could remind her. Until such time as I find to buy knife covers, I just put them in the box they came in.
