My only issue with it is the seams at the bottom on the tail are coming undone and it's difficult to repair with the satin material. I am likely going to have to turn it inside out and just use my sewing machine around the whole bottom seam. At a tall 9 yrs old she will probably only be able to use it for a year before it's too short. It fits her about the same as the one in the picture here, the top comes just past her armpits. My daughter is 5 and smaller than the girl pictured. So, keep in mind if they truly want to 'snuggle in' the material only comes up to their chest, maybe shoulders. And it's super, super soft. My son is actually in love with his "rainbow color fish." Haven't been able to wash it yet because he's been wearing it for the last 2 days so not sure how that will go, but overall, was really happy with the quality. I've seen a couple friends who have bought less expensive versions at off-price stores and theirs are nowhere near as soft this one is.
