The metal teeth rotate and catch the loose hair; just pull the hair away from the teeth when they're full and continue to comb.. There are large teeth and small teeth on opposite ends of the comb for shorter and longer hair. Go slowly the first time; afterwards, it's a breeze to take out any knots and clumps. This comb keeps bad fur days under control and the hair off of your couch. Regular combing reduces pets excess licking and pulling, and even better, less hair ball barfing!
