From the moment I opened the box, I was impressed by the attention to detail and the quality of the craftsmanship. First and foremost, the pieces are absolutely stunning. Review: The BEST Magnetic Travel Board for Serious Play - I've owned this board for little over a year now, and it has been absolutely incredible. I collect chess sets, and own over 100 different sets. I also (try) to play chess at a club level, so I appreciate when things are playable for standard more official chess settings. I've played over 50 games with this board in blitz, rapid, and classical style formats. From this experience, here are my pro's and con's Pros: - Piece design: The piece design in superb. To put it simply, these are the best wooden chess pieces I've ever used in a magnetic chess set. It closely resembles that of the DGT timeless pieces which are the top of the line. Many other sets write "handmade wooden pieces" in their titles but end up just including a set of generic mass made cheap wooden sets, but this company does not. They feel great in the hands, look fantastic, and are very durable. The contrast between the pieces and the board is brilliant, and allows for very pleasant play. The wood grain is also NOT fake, which I am very happy with. They are real wooden pieces that do not have that glossy cheap look. - Magnets: The magnets are perfect for this size of board. They stay on at decently extreme angles, and during blitz play pieces rarely fall down. They also have a very satisfying sound when placing down on the board. - Board quality: Board is very smooth and level. I never really ever have issues with the seam and it has withstood several drops, hits, and literal smacking from small children. I have taken it abroad to two countries and it still plays great. Overtime mine has seen several scratches and nicks, but I've used this in a more extreme case. I actually like the "weathered" look it's taking on as well. - Value Given the quality of the board, pieces, and magnets, I don't think you can find a better deal. This is the highest value magnetic set I have found so far. Cons: - Putting pieces back: The magnets are not all the same direction. This causes pieces to snap to each other, or stick to the sides of other pieces. While this is not an issue when playing at all, it is annoying when putting it back after you're done. However this is really not a problem and adds maybe only an extra 10 seconds to your time when cleaning up. - Base size of Queen and King: These two pieces have slightly larger bases than the rest of the pieces. It doesn't impact playability but it irks me that they're not all the same size. I'm guessing this was to compensate for their taller height. - Size options: This size is fantastic for serious games, and works on many different surfaces. However for portability it is pretty sizeable and barely fits in my laptop backpack. The thickness also makes it cumbersome to carry around if you have a small bag. I wish there were maybe 3 sizes (small, medium, large) where this would be more on the medium size. Overall: This is my top pick for serious portable chess, and is my first recommendation anytime anyone asks. I really appreciate the quality they've put into this. Make sure you pay attention to the dimensions carefully and know that it will be slightly on the larger side. If that isn't an issue for you, you cannot find a better deal for the price!

**Q: I understand the set says there are 2 extra queens included but I see that it is two extra kings. Seems more necessary to include the queens instead?**
A: Each side has an extra queen because, in a chess game, if you have a pawn that reaches the 8th rank of the Board, it can be exchanged for any piece, but obviously most players will choose to have it be a queen.  If your original queen is still in play on the board, it's nice to have an extra one to use instead of having to fashion some other kind of marker.

**Q: Do the checker pieces fall out when the board is turned over?**
A: If you open it the wrong way then they will fall out but if you open it correctly then all the pieces stay put. My son rarely uses the checker pieces but he still keeps them with the set. Very good product!

**Q: How do i contact seller? I am missing a brown pawn and was played after the return window**
A: Very good question.  An answer from distributors is appreciated here   In case we lose pieces and want to replace.  Probably will have to buy new set. You should contact Amazon to replace entire product and you will have to return the one you got after your replacement is shipped. Just went through this with Amazon

**Q: I have never seen this tiny bracket from other chessboard, I’d like what is it for, and appreciate for your answer.**
A: First of all, i think it is a unbeatable design as I have bought many foldable chess set for my kids. The center of a chessboard hump up always, that it is unavoidable to had a huge gap in the hingle area, that’s why i don’t like the foldable board all the time. This mini bracket supports the chessboard just like table legs, it fully flat while playing, two halves of the board are really flush with one another !!!! And the mini bracket design also can keep the metal board locks away from your desk to avoid scratches if the desk is made of wood, which can protect your furniture well.

This chess set is amazing especially for the price, it’s hard to find a wooden chess set at this price point, the wood feels really nice & the pieces are really well made, I especially love the knight’s design in this set, it doesn’t have eyes so it doesn’t look all weird & creepy like a lot of other sets, it’s a minimalist design, the pieces being magnetic is a really nice touch too, the magnets are strong enough to stick on the board without falling over when the board is moving but not too strong where it hinders gameplay, the magnets also compensate for the pieces not being weighted. Mine came with a broken latch so I emailed them & they replied to me very quickly & sent me 2 replacement latches for free, so the customer service is really outstanding. Overall this is a really good chess set for beginners, casual players or people who like playing on the go & I am extremely happy with my purchase!
